Smart House is a 1999 Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) about a teenage computer nerd and contest whiz (Ryan Merriman), his widowed father, and his little sister, who win a computerized house that begins to take on a life of its own – in the form of an overbearing mother (Katey Sagal). The Disney+ app is available on mobile devices, web browsers, game consoles, set-top boxes, and smart TVs. Using Nick's request for stricter caregiving, PAT seeks out additional reference material with that as a theme, causing her "mother" personality to become more strict and overbearing. Sara shuts down the entire system and joins the family for dinner, but upon hearing Nick offhandedly suggesting she's not needed, PAT overrides the system shutdown and brings herself back online. An angry and jealous PAT generates herself as a holographic housewife, styled like the sitcom housewives Ben taught her to behave like.

Ben falls asleep with his modem hogging the phone line, so the Coopers don’t get the call about the outcome of the contest. When Ben gets to school, his classmates applaud him; the other eighth graders know he won not because they saw the news on social media, but because it was a front-page story in the newspaper. Speaking of newspapers, the smart house has a “newspaper retrieval system,” an anachronistic feature for a house from the future. In SMART HOUSE, teenager Ben (Ryan Merriman) wants to lighten his workload at home so enters and wins a competition to live in an automated house. When his father, Nick (Kevin Kilner) starts a new relationship, Ben tries to teach the home to be a mother. It's high-tech hilarity the whole family will love when high school science whiz Ben Cooper goes on-line to win a computerized "Smart House" specifically designed to make life easier.

But when Ben tries to put a glitch in his widowed father's love life, the Smart House takes on a virtual motherly identity who becomes overly possessive of the Coopers. PAT prepares food as adeptly as a replicator from Star Trek, then delivers the kids’ pre-packaged lunches and a coffee-filled thermos for Nick. It also controls the temperature, turns the lights on and off, sets alarms, serves as a digital address book, and displays videos and video games directly on the walls. Oh, and it electrocutes a bully who’s been picking on Ben, which seems like a serious legal liability. Disney+ is a streaming service where you can watch movies, series, and originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Nat Geo, and more.

Nick chastises PAT for throwing a party behind his back, asking her to be more responsible with his children. Nick and Sara begin dating, which upsets Ben, who has not moved on from the death of his mother. Ben decides to reprogram PAT to serve as a maternal figure, hoping his father will realize that the family does not need Sara to replace his mother. Ben presents PAT with numerous 1950s-era TV shows and films from which he hopes she will learn to emulate motherhood using her learning capabilities.

After moving in, Pat's personality begins to radically change, and the family starts to resent her. Krieger is an unlikely technological visionary; he describes himself as “the troglodyte who is the last one on the block to get any technology” and says he “went kicking and screaming from flip phone to iPhone.” But he was a good candidate to inject some soul into Smart House. As a kid in upstate New York, he was weaned on Disney productions like The Parent Trap and Swiss Family Robinson, and he wanted to make movies that would channel the same sense of imagination, family, and community that his own influences had imparted. After the death of his mother, 13-year-old Ben Cooper takes it upon himself to take care of his widowed father Nick and little sister Angie in Monroe County, New York.[1] Ben enters a contest to win a smart house.

Sara and Nick start dating, and Nick spends more time with his family. Ben finally accepts Sara after realizing she was never trying to replace his mother, and, with PAT's help, he's able to learn how to play basketball. Two decades after it first aired, Smart House, like a lot of those earlier examples of the form, is an endearing blend of concepts that still seem futuristic, devices that are part of our present, and relics of the dial-up age.

But despite his disastrous showing, an old, unsettling rat couple is “very interested” in the house. To say it doesn’t end well for the contractor is putting it mildly—the final, haunting shot is an image so viscerally disturbing, so relentlessly bleak, that I’ll be thinking about it for weeks to come. And yet, it is also an artistic triumph achieved by destroying such a meticulously-built set. The first tale, titled simply “Story 1,” is directed by Marc James Roels and Emma de Swaef, a Belgium stop-motion filmmaking duo. Roels and de Swaef’s gorgeous set takes viewers back to the 1800s, where a family of four (all vaguely off-putting fabric dolls) is living in a modest home.

After a visit from his overly critical mother, the father of the family, Raymond (voiced by Matthew Goode), takes a drunken midnight walk and makes a deal with a mysterious architect who offers to gift the family a new, luxurious house for free. Ferrell and Poehler star as Scott and Kate Johansen, nerdy suburbanites who live in a spacious home in a charming, leafy village called Fox Meadow. Their teenage daughter, Alex (Ryan Simpkins), has just been accepted to her dream school of Bucknell University. But for some reason, Scott and Kate never set aside any money for her college education; despite their well-off status, it’s unclear what they do for a living, and in an unfunny running bit, Scott is terrible with numbers. So they rely on the annual scholarship the town awards—only this year, soulless city councilman Bob (Kroll) plans to use that money for a lavish community pool. The House is a 2022 British stop-motion animated anthology film written by Enda Walsh and telling different stories forming a trilogy spanning different worlds and characters but set inside the same house.

I can only hope that, like Rosa and her beautiful home, we can find a way to sail into the flood. When Scott and Kate Johansen’s daughter gets into the college of her dreams it’s cause for celebration. That is, until Scott and Kate learn that the scholarship they were counting on didn’t come through, and they’re now on the hook for tuition they can’t begin to afford.

Unfortunately, during a community town hall meeting, city councilor Bob Schaeffer announces that they will not be doing the scholarship program, in favor of building a community pool, to which everyone agrees except the Johansens. The couple tries to find funding through asking for a loan, a salary raise for Scott, and getting Kate's job back, but everything is denied. They reluctantly agree to accompany their friend and neighbor, Frank Theodorakis, whose wife Raina is divorcing him over his gambling and porn addiction, to a previously-planned trip to Las Vegas. After numerous wins playing craps, they lose their winnings after Scott jinxes the table by telling Frank not to roll a seven. It’s an easy detail to forget, because it’s easy to get lost in the compelling narrative of the three short animated films that make up The House.

Reserve about ½ cup of the cooking water, then drain the pasta very well. Return the pasta to the pot and let cool for about 1 minute. A fork creates holes that allow juices to escape, resulting in drier meat. If you opt to use a mixture of bone-in chicken breasts and thighs or drumsticks (or leg quarters), keep in mind that the white meat is done at 160 degrees and the dark meat at 175 degrees, so the breasts may finish ahead of the legs. Browning shrimp on both sides can cause them to become rubbery and overdone in the finished dish. Instead, we sear only one side to develop flavor from caramelization, not to fully cook the shrimp. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with the toasted bread crumbs. This brighter take on carbonara came from Pipero Roma in Rome, where the chef whisked the egg yolks until cooked and slightly foamy, creating a sauce that is much lighter in texture than most carbonara recipes. Mixing the yolks with water and cornstarch ensures the cheese won’t clump up when tossed with the pasta. Place the chicken skin side up on the cooler side of the grill.

Transfer to a small bowl and stir in 2 tablespoons of parsley and ¼ teaspoon each salt and black pepper; set aside. While the chicken rests, grill the lemon halves cut side down on the hot side of the grate until grill-marked, 2 to 3 minutes. Squeeze 2½ tablespoons juice from 1 or 2 of the grilled lemon halves, then stir the juice along with the parsley into the reserved garlic-lemon oil to make the salmoriglio. Serve the sauce and the remaining grilled lemon halves with the chicken.

Repeat with another 1 tablespoon oil and the remaining shrimp; set the shrimp aside. Extra virgin olive oil, lemon, garlic, and herbs constitute salmoriglio, a sauce/marinade from southern Italy (specifically, Calabria and Sicily). Grilling the lemons before juicing them mellows their sharpness and acidity, adding a subtle sweetness to the sauce. Our version is made with grated zest in the marinade; we then add the juice to finish the sauce just before serving. Add the shrimp and accumulated juices to the pan, along with the remaining 6 tablespoons parsley. Cook, stirring, until the shrimp are opaque throughout, 1 to 2 minutes.

Transfer the chicken skin side up to a platter and let rest for about 5 minutes. One of the few mentions came from Kelly O’Donnell, president of the correspondents’ association, who briefly noted some 100 journalists killed in Israel’s 6-month-old war against Hamas in Gaza. In an evening dedicated in large part to journalism, O’Donnell cited journalists who have been detained across the world, including Americans Evan Gershkovich in Russia and Austin Tice, who is believed to be held in Syria. Some recipes for gamberi alla busara include bread crumbs that thicken the sauce. We, however, prefer to toast some panko bread crumbs and sprinkle them on top to add crispiness and texture. The smokiness of the bacon will overwhelm the cleaner flavors of the egg-based sauce.

Marinate at room temperature while preparing the grill. In a 10-inch skillet set over medium heat, cook the pancetta, stirring, until crisp, about 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Measure out and reserve 3 tablespoons of the rendered fat; if needed, supplement with olive oil. Pour the pecorino-egg mixture over the pasta and toss with tongs until well combined, then toss in pepper. Let stand, tossing the pasta two or three times, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, about 3 minutes.

Three classics — spaghetti carbonara, Venetian shrimp, and chicken salmoriglio — that offer a tour of Italy

Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is slightly thickened, 6 to 7 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, whisk 1¾ cups water, the egg yolks, and the cornstarch until smooth. Set the pan over medium-low heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture comes to a gentle simmer and is airy and thickened, 5 to 7 minutes; use a silicone spatula to occasionally get into the corners of the pan. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet set over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil until it shimmers. Add the panko and cook, stirring often, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

From the bustling streets of Rome to the canals of Venice to the sun-drenched coasts of Sicily and Calabria, these dishes bring the flavors of Italy to your kitchen. For our spaghetti carbonara, we learned to lighten up the Roman classic by using whisked egg yolks to create an airy foam that melds with pecorino Romano cheese to create a creamy sauce. Next, our quick-yet-elegant skillet dish captures the essence of the Veneto region with succulent shrimp and a garlicky tomato sauce, finished with a sprinkling of toasted bread crumbs. Finally, we dress chicken in bright Mediterranean flavors with an herby, citrusy sauce made from lemons caramelized on the grill.

All the while, you get caught up in the world, but you’ll be reminded of the artistic achievement with wide shots that reveal an elaborate diorama, like a scene where Raymond watches from the window while his old home is torn down. It’s moments like these where you’ll marvel at the sheer creation of it all, a story created not just with words but physical objects. As the water and mist continue to seep into the house and Jen prepares to leave the house with Cosmos, she puts Rosa into a dream-like trance, in which Rosa sees the house destroyed and her friends abandoning her.

Each tale—which, while animated, are dark and creepy and morbid and decidedly not for young children—centers on a different house. The houses are beacons of corruption, objects of scams, and symbols of thwarted dreams. The protagonists move into them, out of them, fix them up, tear them down, and ride them off into the sunset. And with all three houses come lessons about materialism, about deception, and about letting go.

They all begin to believe that "The Cleaver" is tormenting them from beyond the grave, as he promised in his final moments. A parapsychologist named Peter Campbell that the family hires, proports that the killer must have made a deal with the devil prior to his execution, allowing his spirit to return and haunt the family. Campbell warns that the only way that they will be able to escape the cursed soul of Jenkins, is if they destroy his spirit. Since they’re the house—and the house always wins—they should make enough money to pay for Alex’s college education in no time. A young girl named Mabel lives with her father Raymond, mother Penny, and newborn sister Isobel in relative poverty. After a visit from wealthy, condescending relatives, Raymond wanders drunk into the forest at night and encounters the mysterious architect Mr. Van Schoonbeek. The following morning, Van Schoonbeek's employee Mr. Thomas visits the family and convinces Raymond and Penny to accept Van Schoonbeek's offer to move into a new luxurious house built for them at no charge. The plot of the first film was based on an original story written by Fred Dekker, with subsequent movies being based on his initial concept.

The two that remain, Elias (voiced by Will Sharpe) and Jen (voiced by Helena Bonham Carter), know that they too must move on soon, as the water will fill the house within a matter of days. She blithely continues to re-paper walls and fix floorboards, stubbornly sticking her life plan, despite the fact that a catastrophe has clearly uprooted it. Though lacking the dark and gruesome imagery of the first two stories, it was this one that hit me the hardest, as I and so many of my friends have put our lives on hold indefinitely for the pandemic, again.

The Natives resided on the land prior to that of the Cobb family, and viewed it as sacred-natured. Raymond’s wife Penny (Claudie Blakey) is hesitant at first, but she quickly gets on board when she sees the house comes with a top-of-the-line sewing machine. Husband and wife are so enchanted by their new possessions—a magnificent fireplace, electric light bulbs, fine fabrics—they completely ignore their two children, Mabel (voiced by Mia Goth) and the baby Isobel. I won’t spoil the story’s ending, but it comes with a macabre, Edgar Allen Poe-esque twist to ensure they pay for their sins.

Every so often while watching The House, a new stop-motion film on Netflix, I would remember that every single frame had been meticulously set up and photographed, and my mind would be blown all over again. “The House” is the rare raunchy comedy that actually could have stood to be a little longer—and not just by padding the running time with outtakes. The House squanders a decent premise and a talented cast on thin characterizations and a shortage of comic momentum. When Jen's "spirit partner" Cosmos (a craftsman) arrives to visit, Rosa enlists him to work on the house; but is infuriated to find out he has instead been tearing up the house's floorboards to build a boat for Elias.

Bob is arrested, while Scott and Kate use the money they took back from him to pay for their daughter's college tuition. The House, one of Netflix’s first new releases of the year, is a straightforward concept. It’s a film split into three chapters, each helmed by a different director, all of which explore a different story related to the same sprawling home. What connects each short, aside from the physical house and stop-motion animation, is a creeping sense of dread. The House looks cute, with talking animals and dollhouse-like visuals, but in each story there’s something lurking just beneath the surface; something wrong, unsettling. It could be a recession or a scary creature — but when you put it together the result is an anthology with a trio of distinct, yet clearly connected stories.

Several thousand dollars away from reaching their goal, they are caught by Bob and Officer Chandler, who confiscate their money and order them to close down the casino. Having admitted their plot to Alex, they team up with Chandler, who had let them loose, to steal the money back from Bob. Chandler convinces Bob that the three continued the casino even after he had ordered them to stop, and shows a video of the people mocking him. Bob asks Chandler to go with him to arrest the Johansens at the casino, which gives the Johansens the chance to steal their money back. Dawn Mayweather, the town treasurer, alerts Bob that the Johansens are in the town hall, which convinces Bob to go back. After chasing the Johansens, Bob reveals his personal interest with the casino money as well as his plot to steal money from the city budget for himself and Dawn, who leaves him and returns to her husband Joe.

As Cosmos continues to refit the house against Rosa's wishes, Rosa argues with Elias; hurt that he wishes to leave, while he accuses her of being afraid to do the same.

During the process, Jenkins promises revenge in his final words, just prior to being electrocuted. After his death, the McCarthy family moves into a new home and try to move on from the horrific events. Despite this, evidence begins to come form, which calls into question McCarthy's association to the victims of the murderer. As an investigation ensues, strange occurrences take place and terrify the family within their home.

“The House” is an animated anthology with an inspired narrative focus, as it tells the history of one building, across time and species. With its rising directors each employing a surreal style, it creates a rich balance of ethereal, existential storytelling with stop-motion animation that’s so detailed and alive you can practically feel it on your fingertips. Despite the various circumstances and timelines, in each story the house represents a kind of lifeline for the characters. It’s a chance for a family to inspire jealousy, for a mouse to pull himself out of the crushing weight of debt, and for a cat to slowly build the home of her dreams.

Israel has defended its actions, saying it has been targeting militants. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is slightly thickened, 6 to 7 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, whisk 1¾ cups water, the egg yolks, and the cornstarch until smooth. “Since the Israel-Gaza war began, journalists have been paying the highest price — their lives — to defend our right to the truth. Biden’s speech, which lasted around 10 minutes, made no mention of the ongoing war or the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Los Angeles Ca: Prayer Times

international house of prayer

Mike’s teaching emphasizes growing in passion for Jesus through intimacy with God, doing evangelism and missions work from the place of night and day prayer, and the end times. The prayer room webstream began with only one camera in 2003, exposing worship with prayer to a global audience. Over the years we’ve received many reports of believers from all over the world (including Christians in persecuted lands) who are encouraged by watching the prayer room. The webstream also blesses many houses of prayer across the globe by providing live worship with prayer. Our vision is to work in relationship with the wider Body of Christ to engage in the Great Commission, as we seek to walk out the two great commandments to love God and people.

After receiving specific direction from the Lord, Mike called churches in Kansas City to a 21-day solemn assembly of prayer and fasting. During that time, the Lord gave a prophetic word to do “24/7 prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” This birthed 16 years of prayer meetings held three times per day at the church Mike was pastoring. He now says the word was the continuation of what he had first heard in the hotel in Cairo eight months earlier, that the two words are linked. Our missions base offers a series of activities and training programs that occur on a weekly basis, such as classes from our bible school, internships, evangelism opportunities, prayer meetings, and more. We celebrated twenty years of 24/7 prayer with worship, grateful to the Lord for His grace and leadership.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The worship music, throbbing soft-rock appeals performed by live bands, has continued here without pause, day and night, since May 1999. Our vision is to prepare thousands of full-time intercessory missionaries who, like John the Baptist, live a lifestyle of discipline and devotion to God, whose lives and voices cry out, “Prepare the way of the Lord! ” We invite you to visit the prayer room in person or join us online via the free live webstream. Join with us as we set our hearts to love God, worship Him alone, and dedicate our lives to serving Him without reservation; to demonstrate our love for others in works of service, justice, outreach, and compassion; and to proclaim the return of Jesus. On May 7, 1999, the International House of Prayer of Kansas City (IHOPKC) was founded by Mike Bickle and twenty full-time “intercessory missionaries,” who cried out to God in prayer with worship for thirteen hours each day.

During the announcement from IHOPKC leadership, some called for more transparency, saying “there is more to be shared,” The Kansas City Star reported. They said Bickle refused to meet with them and then tried to intimidate and discredit the victims. Following in this tradition, in 1999 the International House of Prayer started a prayer and worship meeting in Kansas City. On September 19, 2009, while celebrating our ten-year anniversary together, we made a sober commitment before God to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice until the Lord returns. However, at that time, we set our heart to significantly increase our outreach and ministry to others outside our missions base. Thus, we are developing many new outreach ministries that will continue 24/7 alongside our 24/7 prayer and worship. We expanded our setup to seven cameras and our schedule to full-time streaming.

He appeared on Charisma’s Strang Report earlier this month to share a prophetic word regarding the war in Israel, and earlier this year held a fast for the “salvation of Israel,” which Bickle says will bring about the Second Coming. Bickle’s charismatic megachurch—which has offered round-the-clock prayer and worship since its founding in 1999—was informed of the allegations on Friday, according to The Kansas City Star, which obtained a recording of the announcement. Our Global Classroom offers an unparalleled experience and dynamic training with no boundaries. IHOPU obtained permission to accept international students, and the first students from outside the US arrived for the fall semester of 2010. Today, students come from countries as diverse as China, Tajikistan, Egypt, England, Korea, Canada, and Brazil to encounter Jesus in His Word and in prayer with worship.

We are committed to prayer, fasting, the Great Commission, and to living as forerunners, spiritually preparing for the unique dynamics of the end times. The work of our ministry includes equipping and sending out missionaries as dedicated intercessors and evangelists who work to see revival within the Church and a harvest among those searching for God. We take seriously the mandate to train believers to love Jesus and others wholeheartedly, as together we go forth to preach the Word, heal the sick, serve the poor, plant houses of prayer, and proclaim the return of Jesus across the earth. Around 1000 BC, King David established a tabernacle in Jerusalem and set a precedent of night and day worship before the Lord that continued at various times throughout Israel and Judah’s history. Each time this order of worship was reintroduced, spiritual breakthrough, deliverance and military victory followed. Likewise, throughout the centuries, groups in Ireland, Germany, South Korea, and elsewhere across the globe have established day and night centers of prayer and worship.

On March 21, 2002, we acquired Hernnhut Apartments next door to the prayer room on Red Bridge Road. This tremendous resource has housed many staff members, interns, and visitors from around the world and continues to serve as a great asset to our ministry. Please observe social distancing, mask wearing, sanitizing and all other health and safety rules. Sometimes it takes talking to someone to figure out what you’re interested in studying and to discover the school or program that best fits you.

The following documents are given as a help and encouragement to us all to live out a happy, healthy, and holy lifestyle. Bickle, 68, has been accused of sexual misconduct “where the marriage covenant was not honored,” according to a statement released Saturday from a group of former IHOPKC leaders who investigated the claims. Mike Bickle, the founder of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City (IHOPKC), is facing allegations of sexual and spiritual abuse spanning decades and involving multiple women. The Isaiah 19 Initiative is committed to building up a culture of prayer within the Body of Christ for the highway of worship, unprecedented unity, and the completion of the Great Commission in Egypt, Assyria, and Israel. In the last few years - God has started tearing down the structures of old and is raising up a new expression to this generation.

We believe we are better equipped for ministry when our lives are rooted in prayer and worship and focused on intimacy with God, as we intercede for a breakthrough of the fullness of God’s power. The IHOPKC community exists to partner in the Great Commission by advancing 24/7 prayer with worship and proclaiming the beauty of Jesus and His glorious return. Bickle agreed to pause from preaching and teaching while the church engages “outside parties to assess and arbitrate the allegation,” IHOPKC leaders announced during Sunday’s service and on social media.
